  1. We received a comment from a student at Tsukuba University:
    The child in this photo is wearing a Kabuki costume, carrying a Japanese style umbrella over the right shoulder and has a scroll open. The costume tells us that this was a samurai character because of the two swords on the waist. This is also an iconic pose from Ame no Goro (Goro in the Rain)

    この写真の子供は、歌舞伎の衣装を着て、右肩に和傘を持ち、巻物を開いています。腰に2本の刀を差していることから、侍役であることがわかります。また、このポーズは「雨の五郎」と言う演目の特徴的なポーズです。
