As a follow up to the post on Geelong History Facebook page, I posted a photo of George Taro Furuya, Motoshiro Ito and my great grandfather, Setsutaro Hasegawa on a picnic, dated April 1930, somewhere near Geelong. It was also posted on Nikkei Australia and the ST Hasegawa Facebook pages on March 27th. It attracted a lot of interest, and another relative of George Furuya identified themselves as Erin Matuchik, who lives in South Australia. George Furuya married a woman who had 4 children by her first marriage. One of the step daughters was Ada May who married Haruhiko Shibuya and lived in Kobe for a few years before returning to Australia with two children, Mika and Ichiro. She divorced Shibuya in 1937 (see Pam Oliver “Who is One of Us” p282-86) and remarried in Australia to a Japanese man by the name of Suzuki, who ran a laundry in Sydney
Erin’s grandmother is Mika, who later changed her name to Hannah. This needs to be checked out, and Erin has agreed to talk.

ジーロング史のFacebookページへの投稿の続きとして、1930年4月に、ジーロング近郊のどこかで、ピクニック中に撮影された、フルヤ・ジョージ・タロウ、イトウ・モトシロウ、そして曾祖父であるハセガワ・セツタロウの写真を掲載した。この写真は、3月27日に日系オーストラリアとST長谷川のFacebookページにも掲載した。多くの関心が寄せられ、南オーストラリアに住むエリン・マトゥチクと言うフルヤ家の子孫がもう一人、名乗り出てきた。ジョージ・フルヤが結婚した女性は、最初の結婚で4人の子供を持っていた。そのうちの一人、エイダ・メイはシブヤ・ハルヒコと結婚し、数年間神戸に住んだ後、ミカとイチロウと呼ばれた二人の子供を連れてオーストラリアに戻ってきた。彼女は1937年にシブヤと離婚し（Pam Oliver “Who is One of Us” p282-86参照）、オーストラリアのシドニーでランドリーを経営していたスズキという名の日本人と再婚した。
エリンの祖母はミカで、後にハンナと言う名に変わっている。これは調べてみる必要があるが、エリンは話をしてくれることに同意してくれた。
