Translation of Chie’s post: Someone said this was the bamboo forest in Saga Arashiyama. It is near where Daiei (Kyoto Film Studios) was.

This definitely looks like Sagano near my grandparents’ grave at the back of Arashiyama in Kyoto. My mother (b. 1941) used to swim in the river near here and used to take a tram to go to Uzumasa studio where she sometimes acted as an extra for filming. So it’s only a short tram ride from Uzumasa where the filming studio was.
