Same Milestones by Louise Flitcroft Paisley, OAM 同時期の成長段階　ルイーズ・フィットクロフト・ペイズリー　OAMオーストラリア勲章　OAM

When I was looking through the photos there was one that struck me as being a ‘familiar’ pose.  I have chosen #37, a photo of a toddler on his tricycle with a note written on the back saying 1 year 5 months. When I saw this photo, it reminded me of a photo I had seen of my husband Peter when he was a toddler. I don’t know how old Peter is in the photo but there is the universal similarity of an adult (?) taking a photo of a child enjoying themselves with an object that gives them a sense of independence and adventure.  Many of the Untitled Showa photos are said to be from the 1950s and Peter was born in 1957, so I like to think that he was growing up at the same time as the young Japanese boy perhaps going through some of the same ‘milestones’ in his life as Peter has here in Sydney.

写真に目を通していると、「見覚えのある」ポーズの写真がありました。  私が選んだのは37番、三輪車に乗った幼児の写真で、裏には「1歳5ヶ月」と書かれています。この写真を見たとき、夫のピーターが幼児だった頃の写真を思い出しました。  ピーターが何歳なのかはわかりませんが、子供が自立心や冒険心を持って楽しんでいる姿を大人（？）が撮っているという普遍的な共通点があリマス。  Untitled Showaの写真の多くは1950年代に撮影されたものと言われていますが、ピーターは1957年生まれなので、いま、シドニーにいるピーターと同じように、日本の少年も同じ時期に成長の段階を経過したのではないかと思いたいのです。

I studied Japanese at the University of Canberra, worked at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London with Japanese students and lived in Japan for a year as a Rotary Exchange Student as well as two years on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET). I am currently a Gallery Host at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (MCA), after many years in the airlines/aviation industry in areas of customer relations, operations, aviation security and airport management. I am a Life Member, Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (now NextSense) for work with Qantas Pathfinders Auxiliary.

キャンベラ大学で日本語を学び、ロンドンの東洋・アフリカ研究学院で日本人学生と共に働き、ロータリー交換学生として日本に1年、また、JETプログラムで2年間滞在しました。 航空会社や航空業界で顧客、オペレーション、航空セキュリティ、空港管理などの分野で長年活躍した後、現在はシドニー現代美術館（MCA）でギャラリーホストを務めています。また、カンタス航空のパスファインダー補助機関での活動により、ロイヤル盲ろう児協会（現・ネクストセンス）の終身会員でもあります。
